Dramatic framing by trees at the edge of the creek opens the scene like red velvet curtains at the start of a show. As the sun sets downstream, the sounds and scents of the evening are warming up. Oil paint lends richness to the brightest tones and gestural marks indicate the shadowed undergrowth.
